Makeup for mature skin: What to keep in mind

Depending on age, skin type, colour and undertones, your cosmetic needs vary greatly.

Tip: Colour correctors are very important for mature skin type. You can use a yellow corrector for dark circles and a green corrector concealer for brown and red spots.

Depending on age, skin type, colour and undertones, your cosmetic needs vary greatly. Something that worked in your twenties might not have the same effect anymore. Here we throw light upon what to keep in mind when it comes to makeup for mature skin.

Preparation

Preparation is key for all ages but even more, if you have mature skin. Before applying foundation, do not forget to apply a skin serum or skin booster. Try instant radiant glow balms or serums to reduce fine lines and tighten the skin 10-15 minutes before you apply your makeup.

Opt for a quality concealer stick to lessen the appearance of wrinkles.

Foundation

Choosing the right foundation can take your make up from a 6 to a 10. Make sure you choose a foundation that acts as a moisturizer as well as has a SPF protection. This prevents your skin from looking dull while you wear makeup for longer hours. Pick foundations that provide full coverage to mark discolorations and pigmentation.

Concealer

Always try to use concealers over your foundation unless it is a colour corrector. This way you’ll apply it to the places that were not covered by your foundation. Colour correctors are very important for mature skin type. You can use a yellow corrector for dark circles and a green corrector concealer for brown and red spots.

Eye Makeup

Opt for neutral tones with satin finish to avoid an ostentatious look. Try using colours that do not have an extra matte or extra shimmery finish. To complete the look, do pay attention to eyebrows and eyelashes. Using a light brow pencil to define your brows without overfilling is very important.

Lips

Select moisturising lipsticks in sheep tones to achieve fuller and healthier looking lips. Lip colour should be chosen according to skin tone. Lighter lipsticks in pinks and taupe undertones can provide a younger look. Do not over line your lips instead stick to lining the natural edge of the lips.
